Bacton 9th May

Bacton 9th May

Almost perfect conditions greeted us at Bacton , with a nice sea running and the forecast for the rest off the day looking good, we all had high expections of a good session with plenty of bass for everyone. Normally Bacton would be fished on the ebb but today we were fishing the whole of the flood, and that proved to be decisive when it came to the expected bass as the fishing was very poor for everyone. Dabs, flounders and the odd schoolie bass were the mainstay with the big bass staying away, most fish were caught on lugworm or lug and fish bait, with peeler crab just not living up to its reputation.

Again it was Paul "Scoop" Fenech who took top spot managing to find the fish at distance and ended up with 11 fish for 2lb 2/3oz, Tony "Yoda" Thomas managed 2nd place with 7 fish for 1lb 2/3oz, Sam "The Hat" Attew grabbed third spot with the help of a good flounder of 33cm for 15 2/3oz and last podium spot went to Dene "Smoooth" Conway with 12 1/3oz also helped along with a 28cm flounder.
All 13 members managed to find a fish or two but the general consensus seemed to suggest we should have fished a different tide.
Next Saturday is our first match into darkness this season fishing from 5.30pm till 10.30pm at Salthouse, it should be in time for some smooth hound action and possibly some good bass, but with the way things have been going its difficult to predict what the fish will do.
