A smaller turn out than usual with several members already away on holiday or working for this Saturday match at Cley. In previous matches Cley has proved to be one of the more consistent venues with regular catches of good sized flounder and normally at this time of year some good bass show up.
Sadly that was not the case today with the fishing being a struggle from start to finish. One person who again managed to find the fish was Paul”Scoop”Fenech who found them at distance on lugworm tipped with mackeral through out the early part of the match giving him a good lead while others again were struggling to find anything.
With the latter half of the match proving worse than the first it was easy for Paul to keep his lead and eventually clinch another win with 11 fish for 2lb 5oz. Second place went to Tony “Yoda” Thomas who eventually found some form to get in the frame for the first time this season catching 7 fish for 1lb 2/3oz. Third place went to veteran match angler Dick “Gentleman” Able with 5 fish for 0lb 15 1/3oz who managed to beat a very consistent Peter “Inspector” Morse by 1/3 of an ounce into fourth spot. With only 49 fish caught this week things seem to be getting worse rather than better but we can only hope things improve and the bass come on in full force in the next two weeks.
