HSAC Janet Waller Cup Cley 12/12/08
Once again the weather was far from comfortable. This time it was a freezing cold, stiff south westerly that made things awkward for the eight anglers that attended.
Fished late into the evening, and on a beach renown for being on the outskirts of the winter fishing scene, this could have been a match to forget. Fortunately the fish had other ideas and though mostly undersize, the constant stream of Dab and Whiting kept any thoughts of an evening spent by the fire at bay.
Even with the undersized fish out numbering the sizeable by a factor of at least two to one, there were however enough recordable specimens to produce some pretty impressive match weights.
Bob Thompson managed to bag a 44cm Whiting, - the best this season for that species, and most ended the match with some good sized fish to their name.
Tony Thomas finished up with a match winning bag of twenty one fish for 8lb 3oz, – beating Dene Conway into second place by the narrowest of margins.
Yet again it was our resident junior, Henry Randell that impressed most by also finishing among the places in third.
