This week was a great turnout for a club match with 17 anglers fishing at Kelling on a re-arranged match, several members were missing due to illness and other reasons but if it keeps on like this we will have over 20 fishing every week before the winter fishing kicks in proper.

As usual the field were spread out from the wreck and up to the left near the blockhouse, the sea state looked perfect for Bass and we were proved right with several being caught throughout the day the biggest being 48cm caught by Peter "BagLady" Simmons, not enough to get him in the frame but a nice fish all the same.

Dick "Done The Biz" Able started off very well with Flounders and Dabs and after 4 hours was up on 101 pts while Dene "Smoooth" Conway was back on 1 solitary Dab for 5pts, this was about to change in dramatic style, at 4.05pm with 55 minutes left to go Dene struck into a good bite which turned out to be a 42cm Bass and on bottom hook a 30cm Flounder, this seemed to kick start him into life and he continued and caught another 7 fish right up to his last cast, this included another Bass at 43cm, taking him from 5pts up to 282 in 55 minutes, it just goes to show you should never give up in a match as anything can happen, with the others up to the left we knew it would be a scrap for the top 4 places.

Tony "Last Cast" Thomas also had 10 fish and Dick Able had 8 but sneaking into 3rd place was Simon "The tactician" Farrow with 4 fish including a good Bass.

Plenty of Bass and Flounder action seems to be the main stay at the moment and a good match was had by all, lets hope the conditions for the next Salthouse match remain the same and we can all get in amongst the bigger Bass.

A total of 70 fish were caught and returned alive including all the sizeable Bass.
