Its hard to tell at the moment, and we’ve been blaming the conditions for so long now that even this theory is beginning to wear thin.

With the booking list for this match reading like a ‘who’s who’ of East Coast hotrods, it was a chance for all to see what was actually possible from a coastline that is suffering heavily. – Well that was the theory.

As predicted by most, the overall winner came from the ‘wreck’ end of the line up with the ‘blockhouse’ end producing the second place, – but quite honestly these facts are somewhat misleading when the whole picture is taken in to account as the average match weight for most was around the 1lb bracket, – with no real difference from one end of the beach to the other.

Last year’s winner Richard Burt (peg 51) took top spot again, – mostly thanks to a brace of Codling on his card (1lb 5oz & 3lb).

Mark Pinder (peg 2) was second with a mixed bag of 10 fish taken from a range that was just beyond that of those around him, and Craig Buy (peg 19) sneaked into third with a match bag of just 5 fish.

Top anglers, – five hours, – Kelling beach, – with an average of less than three and a half fish each, – seems hard to believe this time of year doesn’t it ?

Well at least it shows the reality of our sport, and quite frankly, – we’ve seen it all before, – and we’ll be back to try again next week !!

The HSAC Roy Waller Memorial trophy (rescheduled from November due to bad weather) was contested by ten club members.

However, due to the lack of sizeable fish, only Dene Conway and Tony Chidwick figured in the running.

Tony’s 3 Dab (14 2/3oz ) narrowly beat Dene’s Dab and Whiting (12oz) to give him the top spot in the match.
