A Good turnout of 15members on a lovely summers day, the sea looked perfect for the elusive smoothhounds but having fished the venue the day before I knew we would be in for a poor match. The tide pull was horrendous and the easiest way to fish was close in and hope for a lucky bass, John Cater was the first to find a good sizeable bass closely followed by Tony Thomas who seems to excel when conditions are poor, both these fish proved to be enough to take the two top spots, with Tony finishing on 3lb 14oz and John on 2lb 3 1/3oz, the thrid place spot went to Ivan Alan with 15oz and shows the difference a decent bass can make, 4th slot went to Paul Fenech who managed to scratch his way into the frame yet again.
Our thoughts now turn to the next match at Kings Lynn a 6 hour marathon match which should yield plenty of eels and flounders, for all those who havent fished this venue I would recommend it highly, comfortable fishing and great sport can be had.
