Snow showers were forecast for our match at Salthouse but no one was expecting the blizzards and freezing cold conditions we experienced. First of all welcome to two new members who toughed it out in these conditions and didn’t return a blank, Pam Carter & Andy Turk. At the start of the match you just couldn’t see who was where on the beach just lots of white igloos spread out from the left of the carpark, and it was to remain visibly poor and arctic conditions for the first 2 hours approximatley, then the weather broke and eventually we had the sunny spells and dryer conditions giving everyone a chance to enjoy the rest of the match. Dene "Smooth" Conway started off well and for most of the match seemed to be leading the pack but after the tide turned he struggled to find anymore fish and only just managed to hang onto second place, a brilliant performance from Paul "Scoop" Fenech took him to his first win with the club and proved that the man really can catch fish. Local legend Tony "Yoda" Thomas fought hard and managed 3rd place but it was the ever improving Paul Thorburn who shone yet again by clinching another slot in the frame and taking 4th place. Robert "Camoflage" Ford our illustrious secretary made a long awaited return to the club scene and also managed a few fish to show he hasn’t lost his touch. With only two matches left in the winter accumulator its still anyones game with the big match at Trimingham looming and the chance of codling for all, it realy could go to the final match this year. 54 fish were caught and returned alive showing that the fishing really isn’t as bad as everyone makes out.
