By Dene Conway Finally a break in the weather and we could resume fishing in relatively good conditions, the venue today was Salthouse and with 14 or so pleasure anglers all ready on the beach we all decided to walk to the left to fish. Conditions were good and most members were straight into Dabs, which seemed to be responding well to lug tipped with fish bait and at various ranges. It was Peter "Sandy Coke" Loke who found the hotspot and from then off was into fish leaving the rest of us behind, 15 anglers fished. Quick welcome to our latest members Shawn Archer & Son (6 yrs old) Chris Burgess & Chris Dimmock who I hope all enjoyed the competition and the experience. In the end there was no stopping Peter who managed an impressive14 fish for 3lb 6 1/3, scraping into 2nd place was an ever improving Paul Thorburn with 8 fish for 1lb 13 1/3, who narrowly beat Dene Conway who for third place also had 8 fish for 1lb 12 1/3, 4th place and a well deserved return to the frame was John "Silverfox" Neave who managed 6 fish for 1lb 10 2/3. In the private battles Sherry "Is that how they clap in Japanese" Murray, beat partner Simon " The Tacklewhore" Farrow with 3 fish to his solitary 1, proving that skill and a feminine touch will often outfish top tackle, lets hope domestic bliss wasnt shattered after this defeat. Elswhere in the match a returning Ray "Popeye" Ward managed a very good 6th place , and wasn’t far behind Tony " Yoda" Thomas who although had 11 fish only managed 1lb 9 1/3 possibly smaller Dabs up his end of the beach. All in all 69 fish were caught and returned. :
