The winter is back again with harsh 25 – 30 mile an hour Easterly winds , blizzards and a rough sea, it was debateable at the beginning whether we should fish the match or cancel it, we decided to reduce the hours to 4 and finish at 2pm and see how things went.

A good turn out for a bad weather match, with 10 hardy souls braving the arctic winds and snow blindness..

It was hard going for everyone and to even stand a chance of holding bottom you had to hit a fair distance and keep your rod up high, tackle losses were high for most and an hour into the match half the field were thinking about giving up , by the end of the match there were 4 members left standing, Ian Gedney, Richard Ives , Tony Thomas and Dene Conway, knowing that one fish would clinch the match everyone was trying their hardest.

Dene managed a dab but this turned out to be 22.5cm and this was the only fish that was caught, and is under the legal size limit by 0.5cm frustrating but rules are rules..

In the last hour of the match the rough seas proved to be too much for the remaining anglers and none of us could hold the bottom longer than 5 – 10 mins , so in blizzard conditions we all packed together and headed back to the carpark.

You can tell its cold when the local population come into your shelter and share your bait with you.As you can see the Dunlin in the pic is happy to accept being hand fed a nice piece of Herring.

All monies will be carried over into next match which is at Weybourne and Kelling as its combined with the Teams of 5 match.
