Holt SAC Sid Ernie Cup (Report 2)

Sunday 20th September 2015 - Salthouse

Our 2nd Match of the Winter Cups and Opens went ahead at Salthouse on the 20th of September 9am to 2pm fishing the tide over the top.  An Early start yes but the weather looked good and with the reports of good numbers of Bass over the evenings before hand the prospects for a good session lay ahead. Pegging was straight over so which ever peg was drawn there wasn't to much walking needed.

The whistle blew and the first cast were made. It wasn't to long before the first signs of fish were seen being landed, small but cardable. Where were these Bass? Well it was just after high water when it seemed 'almost' everyone had one as a shoal must of swam through! On peg 2 Shane 'The Gardner' Scarff managed 3 Dabs and a 45cm bass giving him high hopes of a podium spot. On peg 4 next door Wayne 'Walk About' Clarke got a little bored watching his rod stay still for the entire match but managed a un-Cardable Ting of about 5cm which he found quite amazing. On peg 5 Christian 'Holey Crotch' Bulch managed not only to split his trousers but catch a couple of Bass to go with his single diddy Dab to put hope in his heart for a podium spot. Next on peg 6 Paul 'Back Cast' Tovell managed two nice Bass to go with his steady flow of Dabs putting him in a good position of a podium spot.

Next on peg 7 Shane 'Kungfoo Caster' Brown seemed to be keeping well up too with a couple of Bass and a few Flats. On peg 8 Danny 'Young-un' Brown could'nt quite keep up with 'dad' this week but managed to card points. On peg 9 peter 'Foo Yung' Loke managed to card five fish including a 33cm Bass. Next door on peg 11 the Sam 'Patient' Bulch carded a nice little 24cm Bass giving him points and putting a smile on his face as it was his first one. On peg 12 Keith 'Steady' Morley tried his hardest to get a Bass to go with his five flats but not this time. Lastly on peg 13 Mark 'Kipper' Coleman manged to catch  four flats but no Bass to boost his points. All in all a nice match with a mixed bag of fish. A slighty less turnout than normal as several  members are away on Holiday and also some fishing over in Ireland in the 'Pairs'

On to the results and in third place this week was Shane Scarff with 4 fish for 2lb 13oz, In second place was Shane Brown with 9 fish for 5lb 6oz and in First place was Paul Tovell with 9 fish for 6lb 4oz ... Bigesst Round was a 49cm Bass (2lb 9oz) for Paul Tovell and Biggest Flat was a 30cm Flounder (11oz) for Shane Brown ... Well done everyone, again thank you all for coming along and making it a great match with great banter from all!!!

Next Sunday the 27th we are at Cley Beach fishing 10am - 3pm (meet up at the Car Park from 8.30am) This will be a fun Match as it is the 'Pairs Sheild' ...
